佛光山南天寺1月28日至2月2日舉辦農曆新年慶典活動,吸引近2000位社區居民參與。臥龍崗市政府副市長 Linda Campbell 於大年初一特別拜訪南天寺,與佛光山澳紐總住持滿可法師為醒獅點睛。副市長表示,蛇年代表快樂、活力、繁榮及幸福,讚揚南天寺是寶貴的多元文化平台,為推動和諧社會不遺餘力。
除夕夜市 蔬食文化薈萃
除夕夜市融合祈願納福、文化表演與環保蔬食,展現多元文化扎根大洋洲的融合之美;舉辦星光漢服風采展演,鼓勵來山信眾身著漢服來寺過年,傳承華夏文化瑰寶。
團圓迎新歲 祈福啟新程
農曆新年期間,匯聚多元文化,包含祥獅獻瑞獻上吉祥祝福,增添喜慶氛圍;發放新年吉祥紅包,以念珠、大師法語與大眾結緣;舉行新春禮千佛法會,敲響平安幸福鐘,祈願家庭幸福、社會和諧、世界和平。南天大學美術館舉辦醒獅塗色、剪紙及年畫拓印等藝術工作坊,以藝術形式體驗東方傳統文化之美,共同迎接乙巳蛇年。
From 28 January to 2 February, Fo Guang Shan Nan Tien Temple hosted Lunar New Year celebrations that brought together nearly 2,000 locals. On the first day of the new year, Wollongong Deputy Mayor Linda Campbell paid a special visit to the temple, where she joined Venerable Man Ko, Chief Abbess of Fo Guang Shan Australia and New Zealand, for the traditional lion eye-dotting ceremony. The Deputy Mayor remarked that the Year of the Snake represents happiness, energy, prosperity, and good fortune. She also commended Nan Tien Temple as a key multicultural hub, recognising its ongoing commitment to foster a harmonious community.
Lunar New Year's Eve Night Market: A Celebration of Vegetarian Culture
The Lunar New Year's Eve night market was a vibrant mix of blessing ceremonies, multicultural performances, and eco-friendly vegetarian food, highlighting the beauty of multiculturalism in Oceania. The event also featured a starlit Hanfu parade, encouraging visitors to celebrate the Lunar New Year at the temple in traditional Han Chinese clothing—a wonderful way to share and preserve this rich cultural heritage.
Welcoming New Beginnings with Family Gathering and Blessing Ceremony
During Lunar New Year, visitors from all walks of life brought a wonderful mix of cultures to the festivities. The lively lion dance brought blessings and added to the festive cheer. Red envelopes filled with prayer beads and dharma words from Venerable Master Hsing Yun were handed out. Ten Thousand Buddhas ceremony was also held, with the ringing of the Peace Bell, symbolising hopes for happy families, a harmonious society, and world peace. At the Nan Tien Art Gallery, interactive workshops such as mindful lion colouring, Chinese paper cutting, and traditional New Year printmaking offered a wonderful opportunity to experience and appreciate Eastern cultural heritage. Together, everyone welcomed the Year of the Snake with joy.
