On 12 November, the New South Wales Government held the 2024 Special Religious Education (SRE) Celebration at the State Parliament House. Over 600 dignitaries and religious representatives attended, including The Hon. Prue Car MP, NSW Minister for Education, and The Hon. Matt Cross MP, Shadow Deputy Minister for Education. Nan Tien Temple’s “Living the Dharma” primary school Buddhist curriculum received special recognition, with Venerable Zhi Li, Director for Social Education of Nan Tien Temple, accepting the award on behalf of Fo Guang Shan Nan Tien Temple. Venerable Jue Fang, General Manager of the Hsing Yun Education Foundation, representing the Buddhist community, shared the story of “Five Fingers Compete for Greatness,” to illustrate the principle of equality among all beings. Special Religious Education teachers Queeny Pun, Yan Ling Qiu, Lisa Khadka, and Byron Li were also honoured for their contributions.
