From 4 to 6 April, Hsing Yun Education Foundation, Nan Tien Institute, and the Center for Study of Humanistic Buddhism at Nanhua University jointly organised the Life's Sustainable Management—Humanistic Buddhism Life and Death Workshop at Fo Guang Shan Nan Tien Temple. Led by Venerable Huei Kai, Professor Emeritus at Nanhua University and Deputy Abbot of Fo Guang Shan Monastery, the event drew 140 participants in person and 40 online. Drawing on his 30 years of research into life and death, Venerable Huei Kai explained the Humanistic Buddhist perspective: death is not an endpoint but the beginning of sustainable life management. The event featured invited speakers—including Dr. Shuang Quan Chan, BLIA Dharma Lecturer Eric Chan, Lawyer Ge Wu, and Venerable Jue Fang, General Manager of the Hsing Yun Education Foundation—to discuss legal and medical issues related to aging, illness, death, and birth within the Australian healthcare system. Participants expressed that the workshop helped deepen their understanding of the cycle of life and death, and it reduced their fears of mortality. Those who completed the program received a certificate of ongoing professional development from Nan Tien Institute, highlighting the collaborative effort within the Fo Guang Shan University Consortium.
