Venerable Master Hsing Yun once said, “I am among the people.” to remind us that all beings are equal—no one is above or below, nor holds special privilege. Within this equality, we live interdependently, supporting one another and grow together. Over the past year, the Fo Guang Nan Tien Weekend Buddhist Youth Academy has embodied this teaching through action—“Others help me, and I help others.” On 21 September 2024, 16 students of the Academy came together to support the 30th Anniversary Celebrations of Nan Tien Temple, held at the International Convention Centre Sydney, offered their service across various roles, including administration, logistics, audio-visual support, and guided tours. On 22 September 2024, 32 alumni took Refuge in the Triple Gem and Precepts Ceremony, and had the honour of taking a photo with Most Venerable Hsin Bao, the Head Abbot of Fo Guang Shan. On 2 November 2024, students preparing saplings for the public to adopt home in the Tree Blessing Day. Students preparing to take BLIA members on a walking meditation to Nan Tien Institute. Fo Guang Shan Tsung Lin University students visited Sydney on 2–3 May 2025 to share their experiences and upcoming events with past Academy alumni during the Buddha’s Birthday and Multicultural Festival. During this year’s Buddha’s Birthday celebrations, 49 Academy students participated in supporting and coordination roles.During Ancestors Commemoration, Qingming and the Emperor Liang Repentance Dharma Service, 28 students contributed in areas such as food offerings, souvenirs, shrine attendant, live streaming, documentation, and photography.
